Journey to downtown Kansas City on Thanksgiving day and you will find you have it all to yourself. It is quite a site after seeing it on a busy Friday afternoon.

There were 2 people in downtown Kansas City on Thanksgiving day 2018. This lady and me.
Empty Streets
“Downtown was literally so quiet I could actually here the click of my camera echo.”
If you have ever visited downtown Kansas City at 5pm or anytime for that matter you will rarely if ever find it empty. It is normally bustling with people and activity.
Time with family
On Thanksgiving day this year I decided to go downtown and get some shots before heading to my daughters house for dinner with family. I was hoping to find downtown less busy than normal due to the holiday and I would be able to get some shots I had been unable to get before.
Not what I expected
I was surprised to find no one walking the streets, no one driving, all the rental bikes standing at each corner with no one to ride them. Each street I went down was empty, each alley way empty, each red light I was the only car. Downtown was literally empty.
Since it was a major holiday I was not completely surprised but I did expect to see a little activity so when I was confronted with an absolute ghost town I was taken aback. I literally could hear my camera shutter click and echo for streets it was a very eerie feeling it felt like something right out of a zombie movie minus the zombies.
Finally as I was getting ready to leave town I happened across one lady minding her own business and I am assuming feeling similar to how I felt at the startling emptiness of it all. I hope you enjoy the images I took that day its not often you will see downtown completely void of activity. #photosbybernie #nikond3400 #freelancephotographer
